A59 Milestone

Crickle Farmhouse Milestone

This is the only milestone on the A59 I managed to photograph. The road is narrow and bendy. I spotted at least 3 others on the route. Seems to be made out of cast iron and a little unusual because it is pinned to the stone behind. This makes for a very firm installation.  The inscription reads "SKIPTON AND CITHEROE ROAD - MARTONS BOTH.  the left face reads "SKIPTON 5 MILES" and the right face reads "CLITHEROE 13 MILES"
